The NTGCOP leadership committee sets the agenda for and leads community meetings. Members also represent the NTGCOP at national meetings and work on projects that benefit the broader training grant administrator community.

Liz Stein, PhD | Chair

Dr. Liz Stein is the Director of Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development and Training at Northwestern University. In her role she supports the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, the Training Grant Support Office,  and professional development for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. Northwestern’s training grant support office offers pre-award data and resources and centralized programming across the university and medical campus to support the preparation of institutional training grant applications submitted to the NIH, NSF and other federal agencies.

Kelly Moore, PhD | Organizational Outreach and Partnership

Dr. Kelly Moore is the Director of the Training Grant Support Office (TGSO) at Emory University. The TGSO uses a multi-pronged approach to support the longevity of Emory’s existing training programs while targeting key areas for new training program development by providing expertise, resources, tools, and training to support faculty and staff in the development and management of institutional training programs at Emory.

Karmyn Eyles, JD | Budget and Finances

Karmyn Eyles is the Training Grant Program Manager for the Office of Research in the School of Medicine (SOM) at UNC-Chapel Hill.  She helps alleviate the administrative burden for training grants and supports the SOM in its effort to provide an exceptional learning environment for the trainees.  She serves the training grant administrators and program directors by compiling and housing data, assisting with the NIH required data tables, and providing training grant related resources and templates to faculty PIs across the SOM. 

Kristin Thoma, JD | Member Engagement

Kristin Thoma is the Senior Program Coordinator of the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program.  In her former role as Assistant Director of Training Grant Support, Kristin worked with individual PIs, administrators and their teams to put forth competitive training grant applications.  The Training Grant Support Office serves the training grant community at Northwestern by collecting and housing data, providing data tables, templates and other resources as well as programming for faculty and trainees across the university and medical campus.

Liz Salm, PhD | Technology and Communications

Dr. Liz Salm is the Director of Graduate and Postdoc Training & Development at Georgetown University. In her role, she supports current and future NIH training programs throughout the training grant lifecycle including both pre- and post-award support as well as training grant policy development. She also provides professional development workshops and advising for PhD students and postdocs in the biomedical field.

Marlin Avila-Andino, MBA | External Funding and Grants

Marlin Avila-Andino is a Grants Manager for the Peabody Research Office (PRO), Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. In her role, she supports faculty, Principal Investigators, departments, and the University with pre-award activities for research grants and contracts. Marlin has over ten years of previous experience working with NIH, NSF, and other federal agencies within the grant’s world. 

Mallory Musolf, MA | Special Projects

Mallory Musolf is the Associate Director for the Office of Training Grant Support in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She currently serves training grant program directors and administrators across campus, providing expertise and resources to enable effective training grant administration, from grant preparation through award closeout. Mallory has 10 years previous experience working with NIH Training Grants and individual predoctoral fellowships (HHMI, NIH and NSF).
